A. WHO / WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Exceptional Solo Singers (must be aged 13 years or over on 1 July 2017 to submit an audition)
  • Inspirational Vocal, Dance and Performance Groups – all members must be 8 years or older on 1 July 2017 to submit an audition

Exceptional solo singers

All soloists must have:

  • Experience as a lead singer
  • Great on-stage confidence
  • Outstanding vocal ability

Helpful skills include:

  • Dance experience
  • A big personality for energetic, upbeat performances
  • Be capable of inspiring our huge diverse audience

Inspirational vocal, dance and performance groups

You will have:

  • Exceptional 'impact' and the 'wow' factor.
  • No more than 12 members per dance/performance group
  • No more than 8 singers per vocal group.

B. WHO / WHAT WE’RE NOT LOOKING FOR

  • Solo dancers
  • Instrumentalists and Bands (covers or originals)

Important to Note:
Each year we short-list well known award winning NZ bands and singer-songwriters. However, if you feel you have the exceptional skill and experience to be considered, please email a YouTube or online reference to: auditions@bestevents.co.nz and type in the subject line: "2017 ONLINE AUDITION - BAND" (or SINGER-SONGWRITER, INSTRUMENTALIST)

C. HOW TO APPLY

All audition applications are required to be submitted online.

If anyone does not have access to a computer (remember your local library or school will have a computer) by exception only applications containing all the information requested below, may be posted to:

Solo Singers

Subject Line: 2017 SOLO APPLICATION

In the main body of the email you must include the following:

  • Full name, age and date of birth
  • Contact number on the day you are auditioning (Must be an adult's, 18 years or older)
  • What city you will audition in (Christchurch or Auckland)
  • Postal address
  • Name and contact details for a vocal referee who will support your application (e.g. singing teacher or mentor) Note: Friends and family members not accepted; we may or may not contact your referee
  • 2 x quotes required from your vocal referee
  • Key experience and vocal ability (25 words)
  • Most outstanding performance (25 words)
  • If you have applied/auditioned before, please tell us the year, city, audition song and the outcome of your application.

Please attach the following:

  • A recent photograph (taken within the last 12 months)
  • Link to your best online footage of a performance (website, YouTube)
  • MP3 (under 3MB) of any suitable song you have recorded

Notifications:

  • We will acknowledge receiving all applications, by return email.
  • Only successful audition applicants will be invited to the workshop weekend and will be emailed the venue, times, accompaniment, dress code, songs and what to bring.

Vocal, Dance and Performance Groups

In the main body of the email you must include the following:

  • Name of group
  • Number of people in the group and average age
  • Contact person's name and full details (must be an adult, 18yrs or older)
  • What city you will audition in (Christchurch or Auckland)
  • Postal address
  • Key experience and vocal ability (25 words)
  • Most outstanding performance (25 words)
  • If you have applied/auditioned before, please tell us the year, city, audition song and the outcome of your application

Attach to the email:

  • A photograph of the group
  • Your best online footage of a performance (Website, YouTube etc)

Notifications:

  • We will acknowledge receiving all audition applications by return email.
  • Only those who are successful will be invited to the workshop weekend and will be emailed the venue, times, dress code, surface area of the workshop space, facilities available for backing track and what to bring.

D. AUDITION APPLICATION TIMINGS

All audition applications must reach us by:
5pm Friday 16th June 2017 (for Auckland and Christchurch)

E. WORKSHOP DATES (for successful applicants only)

Note: Attendance to workshops is by invitation only. Successful auditionees will be contacted via email and given full workshop details. (Response date is Tuesday 20th June 2017)

Important information

  • There may be additional preliminary rehearsals before production week
  • You are expected to do your own individual preparation
  • You will need to be comfortable being in front of a camera as we will be filming and using footage and images taken throughout Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park
  • You can only apply for one show – either Auckland or Christchurch (not both)
  • Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park may be televised nationally and be available online
  • To be considered for the show, please make sure that you read and understand the terms and conditions (below). Those under 18 years of age on 1 July 2017, check with your parents/guardians first, as they will need to agree to these terms and conditions, and to your taking part in the show.
  • If you have a personal health condition, a conviction or pending conviction of any sort that will prevent you from taking part in this event please do not submit an audition application for consideration.

G. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. I am 18 years of age or older on 1 July 2017, or, if under 18 years, I have my parents' or guardian's consent to take part in this audition and will supply a copy of my birth certificate, drivers license or passport to confirm this. I am a New Zealand citizen or hold a New Zealand Residence Permit.

  2. I will abide by the rules and terms and conditions (the Rules) of "The Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park" (the Show) as devised from time to time by the Producer and will accept the decision of the Producer as final and I acknowledge that the interests of the Show will override those of any contributor, including myself.

  3. I have not and will not enter into any commercial or other sponsorship agreement or arrangement with any person, firm or company in respect of my appearance in the Show. I confirm that as at the date of this agreement and for the duration of the Show, I am not party to and will not be party to any contract or arrangement in respect of my musical or performing abilities which might breach the Rules or prevent my full and free participation in the Show.

  4. Submitting an application form constitutes my consent to the Producer using my name, photographs, and Show footage for promotional purposes, without further compensation, and waiving any claims to royalty, right or remuneration. To that end, I assign irrevocably to the Producer (including present assignment of future copyright) the entire copyright and all other rights of whatsoever nature in and to my contribution to the Show including but not limited to any literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work (within the meaning of the Copyright Act 1994 (the Act) incorporated therein in which I own copyright (the Contributions) such that the Producer will be entitled to use and exploit and license others to use and exploit such Contributions by all means and in all media and formats whether now known or hereafter invented throughout the universe for the full period of copyright including any extensions and renewals thereto and thereafter insofar as is possible in perpetuity. Furthermore, I also waive all moral rights that I have in relation to the products of my services in relation to the Show, including without limitation full waiver of the rights specified in sections 94 and 98 of the Act (Moral Rights) pursuant to section 107 of the Act.

  5. Without limiting the above, the Producer will be entitled to: (a) alter, adapt or make additions to or deletions from the Show (and my appearance thereon) at its discretion; (b) make and exploit and to authorize the making and exploitation of any recording or fixation of my appearance separately from or in conjunction with the Show throughout the universe in perpetuity in all media whether now known or hereafter invented; (c) dub my voice in any language; and (d) include my name, likeness, voice, biographical details (which includes, without limitation, any personal information as defined in the Privacy Act 1993 or otherwise) and photographs of me in all media and formats throughout the universe including but not by way of limitation in advertising, publicity and exploitation material.

  6. I acknowledge and agree that the Producer's labour and expense in making arrangements for the filming and recording of the Contributions and the opportunity provided to me to potentially appear in or in association with the Show (the Benefits) include sufficient and adequate consideration for the use and exploitation of the Contributions and the Show (including without limitation my appearance in the Show) by any means and media, anywhere in the universe and I waive any right and/or entitlement to any equitable relief, remuneration or other payment howsoever arising in connection with such use or exploitation. I further acknowledge and agree that the Benefits also include full and final consideration for my attendance at any and all activities as required by the Producer in connection with the Show.

  7. I acknowledge that no repeat fees will be payable to me in respect of any subsequent rebroadcast or retransmission or any other use by the Producer (or any assignees or licensees) of the Show or any part thereof.

  8. The Producer will not be liable to my legal representative or me for any loss or damage or injury to me or my property caused by or suffered during or in connection with my taking part in the Show.

  9. I agree not to disclose to any third party (other than my professional advisors) without prior written consent from the Producer any information relating to the Show, my appearance, any of the production team, any participants in the Show, the broadcaster nor any other information which may come to my attention relating to the affairs of the Producer (or any associated company) which may come to my knowledge during or in connection with my participation in the Show.

  10. If I am contacted by the media I agree to refer them to the Producer.

  11. I agree that I will truthfully and accurately complete all forms and that the answers and information I will supply will be in no way misleading. I furthermore acknowledge that the Producer reserves the right exercisable at any time at its sole discretion to disqualify me from the Show should I at any stage supply untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and information, or break the Rules.

  12. The Producer may assign my services and all other rights in my Contributions to and participation in the Programme to any third party.

  13. It is the Producer's decision about who will or will not participate in the Show. No correspondence will be entered into in connection with any decision made by the Producer.

  14. The Courts of New Zealand shall have sole jurisdiction in relation to the terms and conditions of the agreement contained in this release, which will be interpreted according to the laws of New Zealand.

  15. These terms and conditions can be amended at any time with due notice.

  16. The Producer is Coca-Cola Amatil (N.Z.) Limited and Coca-Cola Oceania Limited.

  17. BY SUBMITTING MY APPLICATION, I AGREE TO THE CONDITIONS SET OUT ABOVE AND AGREE THAT ALL THE INFORMATION GIVEN IN THIS FORM MAY BE USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE EVENT AT THE PRODUCER'S SOLE DISCRETION.
